The food is really good. Great place to go for a quiet, relaxed, and country atmosphere. Don't go if you're in a hurry. They don't move at a city's pace.

Popo’s family restaurant is just that and more, the staff are so hospitable and polite as well as welcoming as if you are in fact family and I felt very comfortable while I was there. I live in New Braunfels and there are quite a few restaurants that could learn a lot from this establishment about the quality of great customer service. I am more than pleased with the quality of food as well, and will most definitely be coming back with my own family to share the experience. Great job and keep up the good work.

This is definitely a family favorite. Even when busy and crowded we have always been accommodated, received awesome service and even better food. Diane has been our favorite server so far! Great for ribs, cocktails, and anything fried! Hard to get a dinner this good in Boerne lately.

I love finding small town eateries. PoPo did not disappoint. The minute we walked in, we were greeted with southern hospitality. Aaron, who was our server was a great guy. Always making sure our cup was filled and attended to us regularly. I ordered the 4 piece dark fried chicken and it was amazing! Seasoned well, not super greasy and crisp the whole time and not getting soggy from grease. It's some of the best fried chicken I've eaten at a restaurant. If you love bacon, you HAVE to try the cracklin corn side dish. Corn cheese bacon and cream. It was absolutely delsih. I got the peach cobbler and was extremely disappointed in the lack of flavor. It was there, but you had to fish for it. The crust was delicious but I just know I won't spend the $7 again for it. Wasn't worth it. Overall, it wasn't enough for me to deter giving them a 5 star rating. It's the best type of small country restaurant service and food you can get.

Cozy place with super friendly staff. Food was great and plenty of it. Tons of interesting plates decorate the walls, it was fun to look around and see where they were from.

Omg this place is legit one of the best places Ive eaten a chicken fried steak at, not rubbery or hard to chew, literally melted in my mouth, the biscuits and cornbread were off the chain, and my mom had the Sunday feature Turkey dinner that was amazing. Ryan was a awesome waiter and took very good care of us, I would recommend this place over and over again! Enjoy!!!

Good fried chicken and other southern favorites!

The Chicken fried steak was great! The batter was very tasty. The decor was interesting, they have hundreds of plates hanging on the wall and our waitress had a story about the 1st one, the one that got it started...We did enjoy the meal. Our waitress checked in on us a now and then. She seemed to be more attentive when the bill came and she spoke a bit about all of the plates, they must spend a fortune on the hangers alone.Prices are on the steep side and probably not the beat place to have a few drinks with the boys if you are on a tight budget.

Wayyyyy too expensive for what you get. Very inconsistent. Overbreaded CFS with powdered mashed potatoes and subpar cream gravy. MOST SIDES NOT MADE FRESH. I have enjoyed a grilled chicken sandwich and fried shrimp but the cost of a meal is so outlandish. A mom and pop touting homemade, but it’s not.

All the plates on the wall are so cool. The food is good, fast and fresh. We've only been here a couple of times but the staff we've had have been friendly but not overly so. It's really a cozy and warm place. If we're out that way again we'd come back.

Went there having no idea what to expect. I had been told the cornbread and chicken fried steak was good. Everything that my party of three had was delicious. When it comes to gravy....wow is all ya need to know. Very memorable. The service was pretty spectacular too.

Our first time dining here. My husband had the fried chicken, which was delicious! Ihad the chicken fried steak. It was so tasty!! And the gravy was perfecfct. We'll be back!

Great tasting food.

Everything here is made fresh, right down to their salad dressings, cornbread and biscuits. Sundays they always offer a wonderful roasted Turkey dinner with southern cornbread dressing and cranberry sauce. The chicken fried steak regularly makes the list for one of the best in Texas Monthly. The seafood is also fresh, such as Gulf shrimp. This place is a local favorite and has been since the 20's. It's a great place to break up with someone. Something about the walls being covered in collectable plates makes it hard to think about making a scene.

Only ate here once but will be back. Folks were very nice and accommodating. Food was awesome. In fact I tried to go back Sunday evening but they were closed.

Great food , great people. Our waitress Diane is the best. My mother-in-law had cheesecake for her 91st birthday. It was the best cheesecake I have ever had.

Service was great people very friendly , very inviting . Food was horrible burger was bland french fries soaked in oil like the fryer wasnt hot enough, bread was toasted dry , like no butter was put on it . Just they didnt have a good cook. How can a hamburger have no flavor ?again waitress was great though, couldnt ask for better service.also i think its pretty overpriced for what it is.

We were visiting from Houston area and stopped in in a recommendation from a friend in the area. Everything was good, but I have to talk about the Fried Chicken. Everywhere I travel around the US I try and check out any spots that are suppose to be known for their fried chicken. The fried chicken at PoPo’s is in the top 3 I have ever tried throughout my many years of travel. They serve a true Southern Style Fried Chicken like grandma use to make. A thin crispy crust, while extremely juicy on the inside, a Truly 5 Star Fried Chicken. On top of the good eats, our server Chris D was Spot On. Sharp, attentive, very personable, and totally on his game. If you get a chance, stop in and give them a try, they are sure to impress!

Solid 3. Kind of pricey. Weird ambience with all the plates they have hanging ALL over the place. Food was average at best. Friendly waitress. Burger was disappointing. Probably will not go back.

The food is cooked fresh and tastes delicious. It was the best chicken fried chicken I have had hands down. The service is top notch and the atmosphere is welcoming. If you are in the area it is a must stop for you!

Cozy restaurant, full service bar, great for parties or just a break away from driving on I-10. Menu has something for everyone. Largest frog legs I've ever had. They are famous for their fried chicken. The chef's are consistent, experienced and well trained. Courteous staff. A very long history of home cooking and great libations.

Awesome meal, great service. Chicken fried chicken, Chicken fried ribeye, Chicken livers & gizzards were all delicious! So were all of the sides. Wednesday afternoon, not crowded, no wait. Comfortable, friendly atmosphere.

This is a great place to eat, loved the atmosphere and the food, We're from Houston and can buy the same Oyster plate for half the cost. But the server was top notch. We will come back cause the food was super delicious food.

The best service, great food ,down home place !

Gotta love old ma and pa places in the middle of nowhere. I loved it. Good old fashioned recipes, history back to 1929, an unorthodox collage of 2200 specialty plates lining the walls, a good staff, even glass ketchup bottles, and a comfy grandmas house feel. We got the lunch shrimp, okra (excellent), and onion rings. It was good in taste, display, cost, and portion size. John our server held the floor by himself at lunch with personal interaction, attentiveness, and menu knowledge. He never let a glass get empty, nor a dish go without reccomendation. We got lunch and then dessert - peach cobbler. Yum. All of it reminded me of going to grandma's house with the southrn style foods, the authenticity and history of the place, and the comfortable vibe. Highly reccomended as a break away from corporate America. Good job PoPos!

We were celebrating a birthday with a party of six people. Our waiter was Glen, and he was really great. This was our first visit to PoPo Restaurant, but it won't be the last. Great food, large portions, fast and friendly service. A wonderful, casual place to have a lunch or dinner with friends or family. Highly recommended.

Had a rough start. We were there 20 minutes and mo one waited on us I went to the register and talked to on of the servers. I asked if someone could take our order and said he would be right over and take care of us. After that the experience was great Food is home made a very good. Hopefully just an off day for them . I recommend this restaurant. Thank you John for taking care of us

Staff is friendly but food is very bland. Did not try their fried chicken which is what they are supposed to be known for according to waitress. I ordered frog legs and breading was bland, greasy, not crispy, small in size and no homemade or specialty sauce to make it better. Do not try their steak fry’s they are not good or fried in bad flavored oil. Regular French fries are frozen and everything arrived at room temperature even though they were not busy. Cracklings corn had absolutely nothing crackling about it and no flavor at all.

Overall a good stop. A limited menu, but I feel like they do what they do well, which isn't bad, but you've got to know what you're in for.Edit* I had the best friend shrimp of my life here... I want to drive all the way back just for that delicious fried shrimp. Mmmmm....

The food is great comfort food and the staff iui s amazing.

Don’t be afraid of your local eateries!!!Restaurants are held at a very high standard. 1) We get surprise health inspections twice a year and are graded on how well we do. 2) every employee must take a food safety coarse, every 2 years. 3) Managers must have a manager certificate of in-depth health and food safety. 4) At PoPo’s we have at least 1 manager with an in-depth safety certificate scheduled for every 3 -5 employees, that way you always have someone checking you making sure you are following all health and safety measures! So you see, we are all well informed and educated on hand washing, cross contamination and cleanliness. So try out your local eateries because they are probably the safest places to be.

Dishes, dishes, dishes... we had a great waitress and manager who made good recommendations and told us the history of the restaurant. The food was very good with ample portions. The gravy and biscuits are excellent.

Found a new place off Interstate 10. Great history lesson. Was originally a dance hall when it opened in 1929. Some of the previous owners collected plates from their travels and all the walls are covered with plates.Good food but not if you're in a hurry. The locals love it here.

I have eaten at most of the great chicken fried steak places in Texas - Massey's, Goodwin's, Strawn, etc. - and I can honestly say the chicken fried ribeye here is the best I've ever had. I also like that this place is off the beaten path. Excellent service from our waitress Kelly too. Highly recommend. 😁

Tracey and her staff are awesome! Love this place! Great food and atmosphere! The fresh fish of the week is red fish and wild caught salmon. We love their fish! Their plate collection is massive. I also love the cool old neon sign on the front of the building.

Classic mainstay for the area. Good country comfort food and friendly service. Don't miss a chance to go here and see ALL the collector plates. One of a kind place well known in the area. Siddle up to the bar and get to know the locals and visit with the tourists. A true experience.
